It is a country made up of 13 states and 3 federal territories. The western half of the Malay Peninsula is divided into 11 states and two federal territories, known as "West Malaysia". The other two states and one federal territory are located in the eastern half of Borneo, the third largest island in the world, known as "East Malaysia".
